The School of Media was established in 2004. It has its origin in the School of Broadcasting & Television and the School of Information Transmission & Management. The School of Broadcasting & Television used to be the Department of Audio-visual Education, which was founded in 1983. It is the first department of Audio-visual education ratified by the Ministry of Education of China. In 2000, it was changed to be the School of Broadcasting & Television. The School of Information Transmission & Management used to be the Department of Library Science, which was founded in 1960. In 2000, it got its present name. It is one of the earliest educational institutions on Library Science. The school has 5 undergraduate specialities: Educational Technology, Broadcasting & Television Editing & Directing (including Announcing & Hosting), Broadcasting & Television Journalism, Library Science and Advertising Science. Besides, the School has 5 major areas of studies which offer Master’s Degree. They are Educational technology, Library Science, Information Science, Broadcasting & Television Art and Journalism.The School consists of Department of Educational Technology (Audio-visual Education)，Department of Library Science, Department of Broadcasting & Television Science, Department of Advertising Science,Department of Journalism & Communication, Institute of Modern Educational Technology, Institute of Digital Library,Information Research & Consulting Service Center，Center For Media Literacy Curriculum Research, Development Study Center ,and Longshi Media Reserch Center .
